A Me Time at Geger Beach, Nusa Dua

Geger bp iconCan you be peaceful and have a Me Time in a touristy (or semi-touristy) beach? YES, YOU CAN! said Obama :p . I Love Bali, I love living in Jimbaran, and Nusa Dua – the rich and famous neighbour – is just 5-10 minutes away from my house.  Just heading towards Nusa Dua, on the intersection at HARDY’S Supermarket, turn right to Siligita road, follow the road, you will see a small statue on an intersection and notice the  sign board to Geger and Sawangan Beach direction where it will lead you to the main road on which Bali Golf Resort Nusa Dua is located, and you’ll pass one of the newest hotel in Bali : St Regis as well. Then you’ll arrive at Geger Beach. Easy breezy..

To Geger Beach

Back in my visit in 2006, Geger Beach, Nusa Dua, has a thick white sand so thick and rich that an international beach games in 2008 with venues mostly held in Kuta Beach decided that Geger should ‘share’ the white sand so the volleyball players would fall on a comfy bouncy sand instead of soft brown and hard sand like Kuta Beach. So there it was, a giant ship tanker with its giant vacuum cleaner sucked up 50% of the sand and poured it all over Kuta Beach. Yay! Kuta Beach is an adopted son of Geger now, it has Geger blood aka sand in it :p

Anyway, I care more about me, wanting some contemplation time and space just for my self, but was not in the mood for hidden beach adventure..and I knew I’ll find my peaceful late afternoon at Geger Beach. And although Geger now has installed more parasols, developped more cafe/warung business not to mention a water sport activities is just in front of your long chair and parasol, still I had faith there must be one small private spot reserved for me, as Bali has a generous heart to whisper to someone’s ears about its special place to be for those longing for embracing theirself with the beauty of nature and not treating Bali as its pleasure and hedonism slave…

you see, I'm moving away from the crowd & parasols & umbul umbuls..you see, I’m moving away from the crowd & parasols & umbul umbuls..

to that spot I'd goTo that spot I’d go

Enjoy what Geger Beach has to offer, the beautiful blue turquoise water stretched along the coastal line, but don’t stop the viewing and limit your eyes with square eyes and mind. What I did, was move away from the crowd and walk along the beach until I see only the seaweed farmers harvesting these jewel sea plants, and nobody but me, my sarong, and my Eat,Pray,Love book..(and Benny moving discretly and peaceful snapping shots, I barely realized he was there with me).

My reading spotI just wanna read my book, peacefully..

My me time spot

But hey yo’! As I’m revealing a private spot at Geger Beach, I hope you don’t think that this is a group invitation for invading this supposed to be a Me Time spot. Please, enjoy the pictures…Peace…

  1. @borborigmus Vyt! Terima kasih banyak for the comment, it made me blush!!! I’ll make sure you’re the 1st person I handed over the signed best seller book, but hmm..then again, if I write that book, those secret beaches would no longer a secret…:(

  2. always telling story in a diffrent point of view, i do agree about your idea to move away from the crowd . . . last January i went to Bali but have no time to visit this place, ah alas. . . maybe next time . . .

btw your blog as good as Trinity Traveler blog’s 🙂
    .-= roqwez´s last blog ..Suramadu: A Boat & A Bridge =-.

  3. Hi Bee,

Love reading your posts on Bali! I am in Bali for the first time in may, coming all the way from the UK. Can you recommend a nice beach? Is the secret “White Sandy Beach” still the best one? I have the directions to there 😉 Also can you recommend some authentic accommodation? Looking for something rustic and so far away from 5 star luxury / tourist trap 🙂

  4. @roqwez thanks so much! I like your blog too! Haha no lah, Trinity’s is the pioneer…she’s one of the best. I’m still learning everyday…Come again to Bali, dong!

  5. i used to come to geger since i was a little kid, and i still remember how quite and beautyfull it is–and in high school i still go there; but one day, when i in university and go there i surprised that there lot of cafe and restaurant and it start to lost its beauty. but i still go there and swimming, because the water is high and fun; and recently i found a good tree to climb and sit there, enjoying the wind, the view, before swimming^^

    love this post, great^^

    1. @vip : I used to like Geger so much too! Before the cafes, water sports activities, day beds spreads along the beach line..But as you see, I managed to find my Me-Time spot to read my book peacefully..:) Let’s find another Geger or another tree to hang out – LOL Thanks VIP!

  6. Hah, I am so envious of you who get to go to geger beach often. I wish I could…

I live in the U.S. and found your blog (thanks to google!) to do some research about beaches in Bali. Would you please email me and let me know your private beach 🙂 Plan to go this year to Bali.

Love your writing, bee. Keep it up!

  7. Unfortunately geger beach is destroyed now because there is a huge construction site between the st.regis and the nusa dua beach grill. Obviously there are still not enough hotels in nusa dua. it is a real shame.
